Big houses, and the problem that comes with them
Upminster runs to larger interwar and postwar detached housing, and the heating problem that comes with a bigger house is distance. The furthest radiator from the heat source is the one that never gets hot, and in a house that has been extended twice, that radiator is usually in the room somebody sleeps in.
Balancing a system like that is genuinely skilled work rather than a matter of turning everything up. It is also far cheaper than the replacement people are often quoted for instead.
Hot water across several bathrooms
More bathrooms means more demand on the cylinder, and the complaint we hear most in Upminster is hot water that runs out halfway through the second shower. That is sometimes the cylinder, often the thermostat, and occasionally a valve that is no longer diverting properly.
All three are testable before anything is replaced. We do not install unvented cylinders, because that needs its own qualification and we do not hold it, and we will say so on the phone rather than on the day.

Do you install unvented cylinders?
No. That needs its own qualification and we do not hold it. Immersion heaters, thermostats, valves and cylinder replacement on vented systems we do.
The hot water runs out halfway through the second shower.
Usually the cylinder thermostat or a valve rather than the cylinder itself. Both are testable and both are much smaller jobs.
