Three generations of pipework in one cupboard
The streets around the High Street and Shenfield Road carry a lot of interwar and older housing where the plumbing has been added to over decades. It is common to open an airing cupboard here and find three generations of pipework in it: steel at the back, copper from a seventies upgrade, and plastic from whatever was done last.
That matters because the joint between two of those is usually where the trouble starts. Mixed pipework is not a fault on its own, but it changes how a system should be drained and refilled, and it is the reason we would rather look at a Brentwood job than price it from a description on the phone.
The newer flats near the station
The blocks that have gone up around the station and the town centre are a different job entirely. Most run on communal heating with a heat interface unit in each flat, and servicing those is the other half of our week.
The thing worth knowing if you live in one is that poor hot water is far more often a blocked strainer than a failing unit. It is a service, not a replacement, and that is worth establishing before anyone quotes you for a new one.
The larger houses, and hot water
Out towards Warley and Hutton the houses are bigger and usually run their hot water off a cylinder. The calls there are rarely the cylinder itself: they are immersion heaters that have burnt out and cylinder thermostats that have stopped reading properly. Both are smaller jobs than people expect and both are testable before anything is replaced.

It makes it practical rather than cheaper. A short journey means we can come back later the same week if something needs a second look, and a part run is twenty minutes rather than an afternoon.
Do you work on gas boilers?
No. We are not Gas Safe registered and we do not touch gas appliances. Heat interface units, heating, hot water and plumbing are what we do.
